German cars are undeniable at the forefront of all the car action that the world gets thrown at it. Over the years, perpetually, Germans have been retaining their top spot which no other nation has been able to overtake. Though we have Americans and Japanese and a few others that manufacture innovation in the form of cars but what Germans do is a different story altogether.

In this review we are going to cover to roadsters with German make that have taken the car scene by storm; Audi TT and BMW Z4. These two companies are arch rivals and compete rigorously in order to maintain their lead in the car arena. Both the manufacturers are at the top when it comes to luxury and high performance cars.

2011 Audi TT

Talking about their performance, both the cars have more or less similar engines. Audi TT comes with a 2.0 liter turbocharged DOHC engine with TFSI direct fuel injection. It can generate 211 horsepower at 4300 rpm and a torque of 258 lb-ft at 1600 rpm. The top speed it can attain is 130 MPH and can zoom from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds.

On the other hand BMW Z4’s entry level engine boasts of the turbocharged, direct inject 2.0 liter inline four-cylinder engine that can generate 240 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 1250 rpm. Apparently BMW Z4 is a tad better at performance than Audi TT.

Both the German car manufacturers are known for the brilliance their vehicles have when it comes to looks, be it interiors of exteriors. On the inside, Audi TT offers standard sports seats that can be adjusted in position by the driver and passengers electronically. The steering wheel is wrapped in high quality leather. Aluminum has been used in order to enhance the visual details on the interiors. Ample storage is available as well. BMW Z4 has a particular roadster appeal with simple looking interiors. The innovative iDrive controller that has been put into place significantly reduces the number of buttons on the inside, but the material used on the inside does appear of top quality.

2011 BMW Z4 Front

On the other hand, the exteriors manage to keep their reputation high. Audi TT comes with Audi xenon plus lights with daytime running lights. The top of the roadster can be folded and opened with the touch of a button in the Audi TT Roadster model. Another noticeable enhancement is the automatic retractable rear spoiler which pops up at a certain predefined speed. The grilles available in the front are too good at looks. BMW Z4 is a tad high in weight than the previous year model. It boasts of 18 inch Bridgestone Potenza summer tires that add to its machismo. It has all the standard goodness of that is expected of a Bimmer.

As far as pluses and minuses are concerned the cons of BMW Z4 and Audi TT are weight and lesser performance compared to the other rivals of same category respectively. Pros of the two are that Audi has a great and innovative design whereas the Bimmer model is better at performance.

Audi TT base price starts from $41,300 and BMW Z4 would cost you at least $49,525. The rest depends on your choice as whether you want a distinct thing in your garage or the same format as the company is providing with everyone.
