Audi Q7 vs BMW X5: Way to Off-Roading
The German car makers are known for not only the beautiful cars that they have been rolling out but also for the cut throat competition that they give to each other. The BMW X5 is the master of sports utility vehicles. This car not only brings a great off road capability but also the huge performance capacity. Audi launched the Audi Q7 SUV in the year 2006 in order to counter the popularity of Porsche Cayenne, another popular car in the same segment. Audi Q7 became one of the most sought after cars in the SUV segment in a very short span of time and we can see the success of this SUV on roads.
Audi Q7 has been based on the platform of Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne. In its attempt to make the car much lighter and smaller than the models of previous years, Audi AG has decided to use porno gay aluminum as much as possible in the construction of the car.
With a wide array of engines in the new Audi Q7 as well as the X5, the buyer is left with broader choices. The Q7 has 2 variants in petrol formats and 3 in diesels. The petrol versions are 3.0 TFSIs producing 272hp and 333hp with torque of 400Nm and 440Nm. The 272hp engine sprints from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds whereas the 333hp does the same in 6.9 seconds. The combined fuel economy is said to be around 26.4mpg. The diesel variants come in formats of 3.0 TDI, 3.0 TDI clean Diesel and 4.2 TDI producing 204hp, 245hp and 340hp respectively with torque of 450 Nm, 550Nm and 800Nm. These engines let the car sprint from 0-62mph in 9.1 seconds, 8.0 seconds and 6.4 seconds. All the models are Quattro standard and are mated to 8-speed tiptronic transmission.
Talking about the BMW X5, this car as well comes in the petrol and diesel formats. The petrol versions are TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines producing 306hp and 407hp with torque of 400Nm and 600Nm. The sprint from 0-62mph for these engines are 6.8 seconds and 5.5 seconds which is quicker than the Q7 petrol. The combined fuel economy is around 23mpg and 16mpg. The diesel variants are a tad low as compared to the Q7 in terms of power. They also use the TwinPower Turbo technology and are available in 245hp, 306hp and 381hp with toques of 540Nm, 600Nm and 740Nm. The sprint from 0-62mph is 7.6 seconds, 6.6 seconds and 5.4 seconds respectively and prove to be quicker as compared to the Q7. Eight speed transmission is also available as standard here.
Coming to interior of the car, the cabin of the BMW X5 comes with all the goodness that BMW as a brand is known for. Q7 also comes with a great interior set. You would feel the luxury as soon as you step inside the car. The seats are made up of the top notch material in the segment. Also the tilt and telescoping steering wheel among other options make the car look more luxurious. The car is sportier, livelier than ever before. The space in the Q7 is roomy and comfortable as compared to the X5 as the wheelbase of X5 is shorter than the majestic Q7.
The exterior of the car also has its own charisma. The Audi feel can be easily felt when one looks at it. At the same time, the car comes in a large body mass. But it has become smaller than the previous versions anyway. The new BMW X5 will be coming with a aluminum chassis which helps the car shed some extra kilos and improve the efficiency. The car is based on the F15 platform which comes in a modular design. This will help the company to reduce the costs considerably over a period of time. So both the SUVs have their own charm over the buyers and all depends on the buyer’s perspective as what he has been looking for.
The Audi Q7 should be priced in the range of $46250. The BMW X5 on the other hand should be priced at around $47500 to $64200.
