2013 Audi A6 vs Lexus GS350: Perfect Sedans Comparison
We have two large sedans here; 2013 Audi A6 vs 2013 Lexus GS350, which both compete in the same segment. These cars go up currently against the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-series, Infiniti M, and Acura RLX. The Audi and Lexus however stand out the most, as they were both recently redesigned, and offer amazing technology both inside the cabin as well as on the outside. Both of these vehicles also represent some of the best selling vehicles for their respective brands. Let’s compare these two good looking luxury sedans and see what makes them special. Both vehicles are powered by 6 cylinder engines, but in a different way, the Audi is a supercharged 3.0L 6 cylinder engine whereas the Lexus is a naturally aspirated 3.5L 6 cylinder engine. The power output of both of these sedans comes out to 310HP and 325 lb-ft of torque for the Audi and 306HP and 277 lb-ft of torque for the Lexus.
The performance numbers show that the 2013 Audi A6 goes from 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and does the quarter mile in 13.7 seconds and 103MPH and the2013 Lexus GS350 does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds but falls behind in the quarter mile at 14.1 seconds at 102MPH. The fuel consumption for both vehicles is exactly the same at 19 City and 28 Highway, respectable numbers considering how large these cars are. What’s really impressive about the Lexus GS numbers is that it only uses a 6-speed automatic yet it gets the same fuel economy. This might have to do with the fact that the Lexus is actually a full 300 pounds lighter, a heck of a feat for a car in this class. On the outside of the cars, both are very stylish. The Audi has it’s own trademark look, and the Lexus has the all new Lexus corporate look, which oddly looks like the Audi from the front. I would actually call this a draw in the exterior department, especially when you look at the GS350 F-Type which is really gorgeous.
On the inside of both of these cars, I would also call this another draw. The Lexus GS350 interior doesn’t look as high tech as the Audi A6, but the stitching, and the way the interior is put together is really an amazing feat. Lexus has somehow found a way to keep their on unique interior style, without having to imitate anyone else, the graphical gauges are also a sight to see.
Pricing of these vehicles are $47,000 starting price for the Lexus, and a $50,000 starting price for the Audi. Overall, this comparison ends really close and I would say, if you are making this choice in real life you really have to look at priorities. The Lexus has the advantage of price, and the Audi has the advantage of performance. But those who are choosing between these two cars, it truly is a coin toss.
